Nagash, Lord of Undeath sought to punish the occupants of Shadespire for denying him his rightful tithe of souls. The Great Necromancer wove a ritual that trapped Shadespire between the Realm of Shadows and the Realm of Light. The souls of the fallen could never escape the Mirrored City, trapped in eternal undeath, as both their hopes and their flesh slowly withered and rotted away.
